Fun With Elsa

Great Grandpa enjoyed the day with us. (We think we're his two favorite great grandchildren.)

Aunt Katy and Elsa came to visit this weekend! Aunt Katy spoiled me with attention.

It may not look like it in this picture, but Elsa was really excited to see me. She was very gentle with her kisses. One with ice cream made my hair sticky!

Cutie

Missing You

Hey Evan, I just want to let you know that your Daddy misses you and your Mommy very much! It is only a matter of days before I will be able to hold you again. I can't wait...

Eventful Day

I got some cuddle time with Grandpa before Mom and Grandma took me on an outing to the downtown waterfront. What a great day!

Snoozin'

This just happens to be my most favorite position in which to sleep. Wierd, but cute, eh!?

Hanging Out

I have lots of cute faces when I sleep, but this is Mommy's favorite pose.

Ferry Ride

I took my first ferry ride today! I slept through all the action, but Mom and Grandma watched two porpoises during the crossing. Next time I might wake up to enjoy the scenery!

Car Rides

Here I am snug in my car seat. I have a fun story to tell about two recent car trips. The first was on my way to the hospital--as told to me by Mommy. On the way to the hospital. Daddy took the freeway and drove very rapidly (but safely) the whole way. Mommy told him several times between contractions not to worry, and that she was not going to deliver me in the car. In contrast, the second trip was to take me home from the hospital. Instead of taking a left out of the hospital parking lot toward the freeway, Daddy turned right onto the back roads. He drove very carefully under the speed limit the whole way to the freeway overpass closest to our house. Instead of taking the on-ramp and getting on the freeway for the 1/4 mile to our exit, Daddy took another back road. It usually takes about 10 minutes to get from the hospital to our house, but Mommy says this trip took a lot longer! I'm so glad that he is so safe with me!

Finally at Home

I got to come home yesterday! Daddy got Mom and I settled before he had to return to Georgia. Grandma came to stay for a few days, and Mommy is very, very thankful for the help! We went on our first walk today (see above), and practiced sleeping on my back (also above). Mommy says I am coping with my new surroundings very well!

Out & About...

I can finally see those two voices that have been talking to me all this time.

My cousin Elsa is going to teach me how to be a gymnast - she started out by showing me how to break free from Aunt Katy and slide under the horizontal bars.

Hi Mom!

Daddy and I spent my birthday rockin' around while Mommy recovered. Little did I know that Dad was just as tired as I was. All I know is that Mommy is a trooper because she spent the past 3 days in on-and-off labor, doing wind-sprints to coax me out, and then staying up late to feed me. Daddy says he'll never let me forget how hard Mommy worked for me.

I'M FINALLY HERE!!!

I know it has been a long 9 months, but I have finally arrived! For those keeping track, my official birthday is September 16th, 2007 at precisely 4:40am. It took me a little convincing to come out, but I finally decided it was time. With all that yummy crab and salmon that Mom was feeding me, it was a hard decision to make. Just so everyone knows, I tipped the scales at a lean 7lbs 14oz and am standing tall at 20.5 inches.

Here I am just a few hours old.

Even though I put Mommy through all that hard work, I did most of the sleeping today.

There's nothing like the sound of Mommy's heartbeat.

Grandma Beach was right, I do have a cute button nose.

Awwwwww!

Daddy's Visit

Daddy came to visit over Labor Day weekend! It was his last visit before I am born. They were hoping I'd make my appearance while he was here, but I was having too much fun giving him love-kicks when he touched Mommy's stomach. Since they didn't have to spend any time at the hospital, Mom and Dad had fun kayaking and crabbing at Grandma and Grandpa's. They even watched two seals jump and play right by their kayaks! Aunt Katy, Uncle Joe, and Great Grandpa Waldburger were there on Saturday, too. My cousin Elsa kept us all entertained!

Elsa is already watching out for me. She made sure that her Aunt "Ha Ha" knows how to put on diapers. Here they are practicing on Grandma's wooden birds.

Daddy spent Tuesday fixing up my bedroom and putting together my crib and shelves. Didn't he do a great job?! The only thing the room is missing is a baby Evan!
